Terms of Service

The service

We create a personalised hardcover illustrated book based on details you provide about a specific person (usually a child, but it can be anyone: a partner, a friend, a parent, even a pet). The book is a landscape hardcover with 16 illustrated pages. Kevin writes the story and directs the illustrations. Artwork is created with AI image tools under his written direction, then checked and refined. You review the full PDF before printing.

Pricing and delivery

• Hardcover storybook: HK$498
• Included: the story, illustrations, dedication, complete PDF review and one round of revisions before printing.
• Delivery: Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China. Shipping is included in the price.
• First PDF: usually 3–5 days after payment and a complete brief.
• Printing and delivery: begin after your approval. Total time depends on revisions, the print schedule and destination. Contact us before paying if you need the book for a specific date.

Softcover and premium editions are not currently available. For extra copies or another destination, contact us for availability and a quote before ordering.

How an order works

1. You explore your ideas with Bookie and share details and reference photos.
2. You review your brief, then pay HK$498 via Stripe Checkout.
3. Kevin writes the story, directs the illustrations and prepares the book.
4. We email the complete PDF. One round of revisions is included: send your requested changes together, with page numbers, and we will send an updated PDF for approval.
5. Only after your explicit approval do we print and arrange delivery to your confirmed address.

Contact Kevin to discuss any changes beyond the included revision before further work starts. Approval confirms the version to print. The revision limit does not remove the correction, replacement or refund protections below.

Photos and content you provide

By uploading photos or providing details about another person, you confirm that:

• You have the right to share these photos.
• You have the consent of the person depicted (or their parent/guardian if a minor) for these photos to be used in your book.
• The content is your own or you otherwise have the right to use it.

We reserve the right to refuse orders containing inappropriate content (hate, violence, sexual content involving minors, or any other content that violates applicable laws).

Illustrations and likeness

The story is written by Kevin. Illustrations are created with AI image tools under his direction and may have small inaccuracies: a minor visual quirk, a slight difference in likeness, etc. We aim for high accuracy but cannot guarantee photographic-perfect resemblance. Review the full PDF and tell us about any concerns before approving it. You can cancel for a full refund any time before printing starts. Problems with the delivered book are covered by the policy below.

Cancellations and refunds

• Before printing: cancel for a full refund any time before printing starts—no reason needed. This includes after you have seen your PDF. Nothing goes to print without your approval.
• Once printing starts: each book is made especially for you, so we do not normally accept cancellations or change-of-mind returns once printing has started.
• A problem with your delivered book: if your book arrives damaged, has a printing fault, or does not match the version you approved, contact us with your order number and photos of the problem. This includes missing pages, illegible print or the wrong book. We will put it right with a free replacement or full refund.

To cancel or report a problem, email hello@cantostory.com with your order number. Please let us know about problems as soon as you notice them. This policy does not affect your rights under applicable consumer law.

Intellectual property

• You own your personal copy of the book and may share it with family and friends.
• We retain rights to our underlying tools, prompts and website assets where applicable.
• We will not reuse your specific book content or photos for marketing without your explicit written permission.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to your order is limited to the amount you paid for the book. We are not responsible for incidental damages, lost time, missed gifting occasions, or any consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability or consumer rights that the law does not allow us to exclude.

Modifications to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Existing orders are honoured under the terms that applied at the time of purchase. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any dispute arising under these terms will be heard in the courts of Hong Kong.
